The Artist Baker
Morristown got a lot sweeter in 2009, when Andrea Lekberg and her mother opened The Artist Baker at High Street Court. Residents and visitors welcome her delicious baked goods – both sweet and savory – for breakfast, high tea (by reservation only), lunch, and dessert. Her scrumptious confections and intimate setting have done so well that they are expanding into the space next door. The relaxing environment that The Artist Baker cultivates spills outside onto the charming courtyard, where guests can enjoy their treat of choice in the open-air.
The courtyard is not the only enticing thing about the building for this business-savvy pastry-chef. The establishments really support each other. For example, the hair salon’s customers often come to The Artist Baker after getting their hair done. The relationship between the businesses really creates a community. Opening a small business in Morristown is a rewarding journey and Andrea says that property ownership “has been helpful every step of the way”.
CASA
Now that CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) has moved to High Street Court, from the basement of the Morristown Court House, operations are running much more smoothly. “This beautiful new space has made a world of difference for us,” says Executive Director, Lisa Barsky Firkser. CASA is now able to throw wine and cheese get-togethers for funders in the courtyard, provide enough workspace for volunteers, and have a board meeting in a spacious conference room at any hour. The space, with its easy access to the beautifully appointed courtyard, has also contributed to an enhanced office culture.
The people of High Street Court have opened their arms in welcome to this wonderful cause. The Artist Baker donated baked goods for CASA’s Open House and Settebello Restaurant will be the setting for one night of Dine Out for CASA, a monthly event in which a portion of the restaurant’s proceeds for a night are donated to the foundation. Management has been both kind and helpful, working from the beginning to make their transition from the courthouse to High Street Court as seamless as possible.
EC Sourcing Group
Ron Emma left no stone unturned in his hunt for the right office space for EC Sourcing Group, the software development company that he co-founded with Andy Caetta. “We did a thorough search,” Ron says, “and we found that there was nothing else like High Street Court.” The comfortable, bright space with unique architecture overlooking the magnificent courtyard is ideal for creative entrepreneurs and presents very well to clients. He has found management to be very supportive.
Ron often takes advantage of the community that has emerged at High Street Court – getting his hair cut downstairs at AURA salon, eating outside at Settebello, and going around the corner to The Artist Baker for their delicious pastries.
